Feb 3rd was the eve of calendrical beginning of spring, and shrines and temples hold bean scattering ceremony.
I went to Kushida Shrine ,one of the biggest shrine in Fukuoka city!
People scatter beans with a hope of good health.
In Kushida Shrine this ceremony is held every 30 mins from 10:00-16:00

２月３日は節分で、神社やお寺で豆まきの行事が行われます。
今年は福岡市内の櫛田神社で豆まきに参加して来ました
無病息災を祈って豆を投げます。
櫛田神社では10時から16時の30分ごとに豆まきが行われます




Each 3 gates of the shrine have the big Otafuku mask's gate
You can pass under the Otafuku gate, which brings happiness!

神社の３カ所の入り口には大きなおたふく面の入り口があり、この下をくぐることができます

おたふく面見るとなんだか笑っちゃいます




The approach to the shrine was full of people!!
参道には行列が出来ていました




Men and women who were born in a year with the same sign of Chinese zodiac as the current year
scatter beans from the noh stage.
年男と年女が能舞台から豆を撒きます




Crowd of people are very enthusiastic and trying to get beans,
You have to be tough!!

もうみんな豆を取ろうと必死です。しかもすごい人。
タフじゃなきゃダメですね



It seems geisha ladies also throw some beans!!
